1. Information We Collect

Pixl Grid collects and stores the following information when you use our service:

• Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials (via Google OAuth or email/password)
• Website Bookmarks: URLs, titles, descriptions, and logos of websites you save
• Visual Content: Images and videos you save from websites (URLs and metadata)
• Task Data: Todo list items you create
• User Preferences: Dashboard settings, background images, theme preferences
• Usage Data: Click tracking on dashboard items, last access times
• Browser History (extension only, local): The extension reads your Chrome history to show suggestions in the dashboard search box and in the optional History panel. This is read on demand in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers.
• Optional AI API Key: If you choose to use the "Organize Bookmarks" feature you may save your own Anthropic API key. It is stored encrypted and used only to send bookmark titles, URLs and descriptions to Anthropic for category suggestions. This feature is off unless you enable it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the Pixl Grid service
• Sync your data across devices
• Authenticate your account and ensure security
• Send you feature announcements and updates (with your consent)
• Improve our service and develop new features
• Provide customer support

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Neon PostgreSQL (serverless database) with SSL encryption. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

• All passwords are hashed using bcrypt encryption
• Database connections use SSL/TLS encryption
• Authentication tokens use JWT with 7-day expiration
• API endpoints require authentication

4. Third-Party Services

Pixl Grid integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google OAuth: For authentication (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
• OpenWeatherMap API: For weather data (no personal data shared)
• Vercel: For hosting and deployment
• Neon Database: For secure data storage
• Anthropic (optional): Only if you enable "Organize Bookmarks" with your own API key, the titles, URLs and descriptions of bookmarks in your "Chrome Bookmarks" category are sent to Anthropic to suggest categories (subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy). No other data is shared.

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Pixl Grid Chrome Extension requires the following permissions:

• storage: Keeps your login token, the list of sites you enabled for image capture, and popup preferences in your browser
• activeTab and scripting: When you click "Bookmark This Page", press Alt+B, or click the toolbar icon, the extension reads the current tab's title, address, icon and meta description. Nothing runs without that action
• notifications: Confirms the result of an Alt+B bookmark
• search: Runs the dashboard search box through your own default search engine
• history: Shows suggestions from your browser history as you type, and lists recent pages in the History panel. Read locally, never uploaded
• Host permission (pixlgrid.io): Lets the dashboard page and the extension talk to each other for login, history suggestions and search
• Optional per-site permission: Image capture is off everywhere by default. When you enable it for a site in the popup, Chrome asks you to allow that one site. Only then does the extension run on it, and you can turn it off again at any time

The extension never runs on a website you have not enabled, and only saves an image when you click the save icon. Browser history is used only inside your browser to power suggestions and is not stored or transmitted by us.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We automatically create backups of your data (last 3 backups kept) to prevent accidental data loss. Upon account deletion, all your data and backups will be permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Pixl Grid uses local storage and session storage to maintain your login session and cache dashboard data for faster loading. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data
• Opt-out of marketing communications

9. Children's Privacy

Pixl Grid is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
